The Muslim Writers Collective is a grassroots initiative dedicated to promoting storytelling in the Muslim American community. We've been featured in Vice, The Guardian, Buzzfeed, The Daily Beast, and more.
Our signature event, a monthly open mic, has been running since January 2014, drawing thousands of attendees and hundreds of first time performers - poets, journalists, comedians, musicians. We also run workshops and partner with local organizations and publications to support our community.
Founded in January 2014 in New York City by Hamdan Azhar and Ayisha Irfan.
